This video demonstrates how to properly fit and use a slip collar. I do not recommend using a slip collar on a small breed dog, if you have a small dog, go get an "Easy Walk" harness.

The leash walking technique in this video is mistake proof, it is a method I use for all dogs and I get results within 10-15 minutes, it teaches your dog to focus on you and watch your movements. Do not hesitate, if your dog is focused, they will not get a correction. You must turn quickly and walk in the opposite direction, if you go slow you are telling your dog you are not sure, then they will make the decision for you.
I use slip chains for the "popping" sound, ( this can also be done with lots of tags on a flat collar or martingale in some dogs) and they must stay loose at all times. They are NOT to be used to "choke" your dog. Do not jerk or pop upwards with any piece of equipment on your dogs neck, this will only hurt your dog. Your dog's body does not move when you "pop" upwards, just their heads do, thus causing injury to their necks.
