FAQ:
Q - What platform are you playing on? Is it emulator?
A - Yes, for current ease, I'm using Mesen 0.9.9 with a standard NES brick controller (gifted to me by yelsraek).
Q - Why don't you do [insert idea here] instead?
A - Good question! Others like Jaypin88 and brianwilliams42 have (very successfully) tried to come up with the fastest humanly possible method of beating this category, but a few stones may be left unturned. With (of course) extremely good luck, perhaps the other team's runner could select the running superpower and hit a ground ball base hit, allowing them to keep their increased speed around the bases. That may be the biggest factor on the table. Feel free to ask questions...you don't know until you do!
Q - What's the point of this?
A - Speedrunning is a fun and extremely challenging way of adding replay value to your all-time favorite games, or any game at all! The first time I tried speedrunning River City Ransom EX (GBA) in 2015, no speedruns existed on the official speedrun.com leaderboards, so I had to create the page myself. I left it for years and forgot all about it. Then Redd92 beat my world record, and once I found out, I felt a brand new competitive fire! It motivated me to create entirely new routes for categories in that game, so I could experience new challenges with one of my favorite games ever. It's been indescribable fun, and triumphing over the game like this after it beats you down feels absolutely otherwordly. River City Ransom (NES) also has a lot of speedrunning history, so climbing the ranks in this game feels incredibly special, especially because it was the first video game I ever played.
