There are still many unanswered questions about the dinosaurs. How many were there? How did they truly live? Why won't they return my emails? But one of the most interesting questions is "What happened to half a continents' worth of them"? Despite paleontology being a thriving science across North America, a not insignificant portion of it has an extremely lackluster collection of fossils. While North America today exists as a single, unified continent, during the Late Cretaceous was split by an extensive body of water, creating an Eastern and Western continent. But while our understanding of this Western continent is well represented, the Eastern half is extremely limited. How could that be possible? What was North America like during this time? And for what reasons could such a disparity exist between the East and the West? Let's find out!
