Painting the Highlands of Scotland | Loose landscapes in watercolour

The more experience I accumulate in painting, the less afraid I am of going back to things I'm not happy with as the painting develops and trying something different to help improve the watercolour. In earlier days I would have left it alone, fearful of just making a mess of it and settling for something ok but with a nagging feeling of what if I'd tried this or attempted that. These days I'd rather give it a go and see what happens. It's not all gold but I feel I learn something each time. I was happy with the mountains as I put them in but looking at it later felt they needed strengthening. I like to dab here and there with a damp brush suggesting mist but had taken out too much paint. The bases needed darker tonal values. I also repainted the peaks in a light wash to help them stand out a little better.
