Background - Why we have created this conference?

Since COVID, BCBM has seen an increase in both normal and problem sexualized behaviour with our clients with disabilities – at home, at school, at work, and in the community.

We do not have enough specific skills to navigate this challenging and often unspoken about and taboo area of normal development.



We have looked for training for ourselves - as professionals, our peers who are also struggling, and our families, that would meet this need for information and real-life strategies. We couldn’t find anything local or easily accessible.



In response to this, Bobbi Cook has taken ‘the bull by the horns’ and tracked down a sexologist that specialises in a sex positive approach for people with disabilities. An expert in a positive and open approach to managing a healthy way of supporting the development of sexuality in our own family members in a proactive and positive manner. And consequently, supporting us to have realistic strategies in managing challenging expressions of sexuality.

His name is Lud Allen and he is travelling from South Australia to be with us for a week 20th-24th Feb 2023. We have booked the ‘Sebas Bowlo’ and we are getting ready for a huge week.
