Olive Peace Prize Awardee Speech

Be inspired this Monday morning with the words from our Olive Peace Prize Awardee, Jaime Salva, in his acceptance speech during the #OURmindaNOW Summit 2020

'Due to the effects of globalization today, liberation has totally wiped out the beautiful moral values and practices of our culture in many parts of Mindanao, yet the deepest yearning of every hearts are seeking the likes of Mother Theresa, Mahatma Gandhi, Maria Clara and their truths – that is why my methods principle on serving our people is ‘Sincerity.’ Such truth is what our people seek for. I have learned throughout the course of my life that what our Mindanaoan wanted is SINCERE love, compassion, acceptance, and belongingness, especially at the grassroots level. Our projects, interventions, and services are just veil of such sincere truths and are a secondary means on reaching out our people, we are to practice utmost sincerity in our personal lives and to our services, unsheathing the diamond swords of sincerity against the plague of materialism, corruption, and egotism.

Also, this recognition belongs to the collective personality happening at the ground. I am merely a representative of this joint effort; this honor belongs to my people. Money and rewards cannot produce such sincere people towards helping society. Thus, my utmost duty is to preserve sincerity with all my strength on all our deeds, and avoid seeking worldly ambition, fame, and rank over the diamond qualities of truth.

This peace prize is a recognition of my individual effort, then surely it is of no value, which is not deserving of such recognition. I am limited, and my deeds last until the doorsteps of my grave. But if it is a manifestation of our joint efforts and sincere actions towards our people, then it is worthy of recognition, let this legacy live and pass on to future generations, thus worthy of divine favor.'
