今回の動画シリーズでお送りするのは、青貝微塵塗の鞘が美しい脇差拵です。
瀟洒な雰囲気の、この拵の最大の見どころは、細かな文字の刻された縁頭と鐔です。
鐔には塩竃神社の文治の灯籠、そして頭には多賀城の石碑の碑文の内容が一字一句違わず354文字再現されております。

皆様はすでに、お気づきになられたでしょうか。
そう、これは有名な『奥の細道』で、作者の松尾芭蕉が訪れている仙台の名所なのです。
一方奥の細道の旅程に含まれるこの二つの名所に対して、芭蕉が触れていない縁に刻まれている那須国造碑の152文字の碑文とは？

Black Lacquer Polka Dot Inlaid Sheath Wakizashi Ensemble, "Oku no Hosomichi" Tsuba and Fuchi-Kashira
In this video series, we will present a wakizashi ensemble with a beautiful blue shell (seashell) scattered lacquer sheath. The highlight of this elegant ensemble is the intricately engraved fuchi and tsuba with fine characters.
The tsuba features the inscriptions from the Hōji lantern at Shiogama Shrine, and the kashira (sword pommel) precisely reproduces 354 characters from the stone monument at Tagajō, without a single character out of place.
You have likely already noticed: yes, these are famous locations from "Oku no Hosomichi" (The Narrow Road to the Deep North), sites in Sendai visited by the author Matsuo Bashō.
Moreover, what about the 152-character inscription from the Nasu Kuni-zō monument, engraved on the tsuba, which Bashō did not mention during his journey?
