Seriously, though. "A Demon's Fate" works just so perfectly with this scene. Thank you, Within Temptation! :D
Well, it's been a while, hasn't it?
At long last, I have drawn this scene again.
Alright, the paws are a bit too large, my bad. It was meant to be a perspective work, but I overdid the size porportions. I'll do better next time. Cx
But yeah, onto my thoughts on the scene and characters.
For us all, it made Yellowfang perhaps the best developed character in the original arc. And from Into the Wild through Rising Storm, Yellowfang was the character that was nearly unanimously the most interesting. I mean, the other guys where nice, and you can like them better, but you can't lie and tell me you where never curious about her. When we find out Brokenstar is her son, it makes it all the worse. Her defensiveness of the guy, to her misgivings with kits, to all that wonderful stuff, all made sense in that scene where she was forced to commit murder.
As for Brokenstar, that gives his character more depth in hindsight as well.
In Yellowfang's secret, he finds Yellowfang's attachment to him strange and makes him avoid her. From then on, she does her best to love him, to take care of him. I wonder how he would have acted had he known she was his mother, and she actually cared for him. Perhaps not so coldly.
I always thought that Brokenstar always hated Foxheart for never claiming him (ShadowClan assumed that she was his mother), and leaving him with Lizardstripe. Perhaps that's why he barely reacted when she died, and it's implied that he planned out her death from the start.
So, I guess for him, in the moment he saw that Yellowfang was actually his mother, Brokenstar probably was relieved; because everything made sense; horrified that he was a Medicine Cat kit; and angry that she didn't claim him sooner to keep him from Lizardstripe.
...And probably pissed because his own mother blinded him and convinced the Clan to keep him prisoner.
And when he found out she poisoned him, he was just scared and angry.
Poor dude.
He totally deserved it, but that still makes it no less tragic.
That's just my thoughts anyways. Feel free to share yours! :D
I used Paint Tool SAI to draw, and HyperCam 2 to record
