2008 NHRA Summit Racing Equipment Nationals ~ Norwalk

Race day coverage of the NHRA Summit Racing Equipment Nationals at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, OH, dated June 29, 2008. This race is dedicated to the memory of the great champion Scott Kalitta, whom passed away after a tragic accident during Funny Car qualifying, in Englishtown, a week earlier. May his winning legacy and competitive spirit always be remembered.
As a result, this is the last event the nitro classes would run quarter mile racing. New rule changes were implemented at the next race in Denver to run to 1000 feet.
A Pro Stock Bike driver earned his first career win, and it was an emotional final for a Top Fuel driver as he dedicates the victory to his two sons whom passed away earlier in the year. Thanks for watching and enjoy the race.
