This video presents a performance of Les Sirènes, op. 160, by Cécile Chaminade.
The work draws on the imagery of northern folklore, where sailors are lured by mysterious voices rising from the sea. Although not based on a specific traditional myth, the narrative evokes the archetypal figure of the siren: a captivating, dangerous presence whose song leads sailors toward the unknown and the depths.

The central section — a wordless passage sung by women’s voices — creates an evocative soundscape that suggests the hypnotic, irresistible chant of the sirens. Through luminous harmonies and flowing vocal textures, Chaminade shapes a musical atmosphere that blends fascination, fear, and the vastness of the sea.

Cette vidéo présente une interprétation de Les Sirènes, op. 160, de Cécile Chaminade.
L’œuvre s’inspire de l’imaginaire du folklore nordique, où des marins sont attirés par des voix mystérieuses surgissant des flots. Sans reprendre un mythe précis, la narration rappelle la figure archétypale de la sirène : présence séduisante et dangereuse dont le chant entraîne les navigateurs vers l’inconnu et vers les profondeurs.

La partie centrale — un passage sans paroles confié aux voix de femmes — crée un paysage sonore évocateur du chant envoûtant des sirènes. Par ses harmonies lumineuses et ses textures vocales ondoyantes, Chaminade compose une atmosphère mêlant fascination, inquiétude et immensité marine.
