This explore is of a 1920s era Nevada silver, lead, and manganese mine that sits at an elevation of 6150 feet. It is a very irregular underground working on polymetallic veins that also produced lesser amounts of copper, gold, antimony, and zinc. Julie and I made this return visit to the Volcano Mine several years after our first visit. There are some ladders that we skipped on our first visit here that we wanted to climb to see what was down below. We are joined by our friend Herschel, who is helping out while Julie recovers from foot surgery. This was Julie's first outing after her surgery.
We start by checking out the nice wooden headframe and hoist house where there is still a large air compressor in its original position. There is a fairly deep vertical shaft below the headframe. We then entered a horizontal adit where we climbed the ladders that we skipped on our first visit. We found three ore cars in the mine. One was still in working condition and rolling on the tracks. It's definitely a confusing layout that includes stopes, shafts, ore drops, and at least one drift loop.
We hope you enjoy the video and thank you for watching.
