Ariondo transfoms C.P.E. Bach's 2 bar theme into samba dance music, opening with a 43 second intro before the theme is introduced. Musician friend John Acevedo asked Nick to consider creating a brazilian dance-style samba based on Bach's 'Solfeggietto'. The video features the Accordion & Billotti Trinome (thank you Roger Nichols, Benedikt, Lorna, Acco-Music). The Billotti Trinome (early 1960s), was a mechanical type metronome with plastic rotating gears playing up to 3 tempos in polyrhythmic fashion . . "Solfeggietto" was just one of many compositions by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (1714-1788), son of renowned German composer J.S. Bach . . Ariondo's unique style incorporates driving syncopated dance rhythms, melodies and improvisation, creating a playful mixture of 'Bach a la Samba', while the Billotti Trinome provides basic quarter note 'clicks' in 4/4 time with a light 'bell' ringing on the 3rd beat of every measure. . .Viva la samba!
[**special note** the accordion player in the photograph above Nick's head is the great violinist Jascha Heifetz, a gift from Ayke Agus, author of "Heifetz As I Knew Him"].
