Yippie Ki Aye
I rode out six days on the Eastern Plains
With nothing but my echo and a sideways rain
Heading West to find a home
Where the mountains rise and the rivers roam
The air was thin and the sky was wide
As I stopped to rest at the Great Divide
Where the sun beats down and the wind blows strong
So I kept on moving and sang this song
Yippie ki i, yippie ki aye
And my heart is with the ocean
Transcontinental locomotion
Couldn't keep me here
Wildlife on the highway
And the city stands in ruin
It's a natural conclusion
To another year of pain
They can't take what I don't own
On the banks of the Little Cicero
I left my pack and my gun behind
And I let my face be my last disguise
Like a child born under Capricorn
Or a cyanide pill in an apple core
Like an arrow lodged inside your skull
I'm a keep on moving whether right or wrong
Yippie ki i, yippie ki aye
And my heart is still with the ocean
Transcontinental locomotion
Couldn't keep me here
My whole life on the highway
And the city stands in ruin
It's a natural conclusion
To another year of pain
