The MAXI TAXI DUB Culture was a period in Trinidad & Tobago specifically around the late 80’s/early 90’s. This was a period that the Maxi Taxis could be identified by their !!SWAGGER!!. They wooed their passengers with their customized branding of Rims, tinted names on their windscreen & high-quality audio (deep slamming bass/tweeters) playing the favorite Reggae Dancehall hits of the day branded: " MAXI DUB ", “You would often hear the music before you see the MAXI”.
Maxi Taxis were color coded for different zones in T&T, they were a cheaper alternative to the regular Taxis .

YELLOW BAND Port of Spain/Diego Martin/Chaguaramas
GREEN BAND Port of Spain/San Fernando/Curepe/Chagaunas/Couva
BROWN BAND Point Fortin/La Brea/Cedros/Penal/Siparia
BLACK BAND Princes Town/Rio Claro/Mayaro
BLUE BAND Tobago

The Maxi Dub era was the "inauguration", the flood of dancehall Music to Trinidad & Tobago. Some of the Jamaican artistes that dominated the Maxi Dub era were: e.g., Shabba Ranks, Super Cat, Admiral Tibet, Ninjaman,Burro Banton,Admiral Bailey, Cutty Ranks, Tiger, Chaka Demus, Pliers, Lt. Stitchie, JC Lodge, Gregory Isaacs,Lady G, Sister Nancy Johnny P, Flourgon, Daddy Lizard, Sanchez, Nico Demus, Courtney Melody, Carl Meeks, Sluggy Ranks and many more .
