Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh has urged the Andhra Pradesh government not to grant permission for a two-day ijtema (congregation) planned by the Tablighi Jamaat in Tirupati on September 13 and 14.

Speaking to the media, Raja Singh alleged that the Tablighi Jamaat has links with terror groups and claimed that it is already banned in Saudi Arabia. “An Islamic country, Saudi Arabia, has banned the organization. Such a dangerous organization should not be allowed to organize the program,” he said, appealing directly to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.


The BJP leader also accused the state government of appeasement. “The A.P. government should not play the Muslim appeasement card. In the holy cities of Makkah and Madina, non-Muslims are not allowed. On the same lines, people of other religions should not be allowed in Tirupati, nor should any permission be given for such programs,” he remarked.

Raja Singh further demanded that the organization be banned in Andhra Pradesh, alleging that the state is turning into “a hub for terrorists.” He said, “Many terrorists are being caught in Andhra Pradesh. The government should take strict steps.”
