Today is the Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time; and in the Gospel, we will hear how the crowd perceived Jesus and his works.
They sought him in Capernaum—but Jesus detected the motivation behind: it was because they were filled during the multiplication of bread and fish, which we heard last week. Jesus thus tells them: “Do not work for the food that perishes but for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you.”
Working for food that endures for eternal life means having faith in the One sent by the Father, Jesus, the true Bread of life.
