Road Trip Eastbound on the Reagan Memorial Tollway (I-88) through Chicago's far western suburbs towards Chicago.
This is the main expressway that connects the far western suburbs of Chicago. You'll notice just about all of it is concrete and at least three lanes in each direction and a lot of it four in each direction. The section between York Road and Naperville Road was reconstructed and widened in 2006-2008. The section between Naperville Road and west of Route 59 (my personal favorite section because it is a long whistle!) was reconstructed and widened in 2004-2005. West of Route 59 to the Aurora Toll was reconstructed in 2003-2004 and the Aurora Toll to IL Route 56 was reconstructed and widened in 2008-2009. So most of this section of road is still in good shape and have only just started getting their first patches in 2018. If you continue west of IL Route 56 on I-88 you will eventually reach DeKalb, I-39, Dixon (Ronald Reagan's hometown), and the Quad Cities. The areas in Oak Brook and around I-355 can be congested during peak hours but are otherwise moving really well! Much better than they were before the big projects of the mid to late 2000's.
