How to make a precise reduction cut

When making a straight cut with a router, often you want to make a rough cut first, then a second cut, removing only a 1/16" for a clean smooth final cut. This can be done using The Ultimate Router Base different reference edges the are calibrated to the spindle center. Simply use the round edge against your fence for the rough cut, then the straight edge for the second edge which is 1/16" closer to the spindle center. This makes a final cut only removing a 1/16", leaving a smooth final cut.
