Choti Shadi of Kinnaur | Tribal Wedding | Namsha Khupma | Traditional Kinnauri wedding

Weddings of kinnaur plays an important role in preservation of our tribal culture. There are almost three types of weddings happens in Kinnaur. Badi shadi also known as Tashis in our dialect. Ponbeedho a type of wedding in which groom doesn’t go in Bharat . Demon marriage/ Rakshas vivah- in ancient time this kind of marriage was prevailing in Kinnaur. Without the consents of bride and her family Groom and his relatives kidnap the bride . Now days this kind of wedding are not happening anymore . If a couple run away with each others consent then bride has to keep at the grooms Mamas place and bring her home after seeing proper timings . This wedding is also known as Namsha Khupma in our dialect . This is the choti shadi of Kinnaur. This kind of wedding happens only in our Humso valley ( kanam, Labrang, Spillow)
Many traditional rituals are done in this weddings . Specific traditional songs for the Groom entry and brides departure which have a deep meaning and we really need to preserve our rich culture. In this video I tried to highlight and cover most of the rituals of choti shadi .
