We’ve made it! After travelling over 3,000 kilometres from our home base in Port Hughes, this episode marks the furthest point on our incredible Western Australia road trip — Perth! And we’re doing it all in style with our Legend Caravan, which has been our trusted home on wheels throughout this unforgettable journey.
In this episode of Bucket List Adventures, we arrive in Perth and settle into Central Caravan Park. While it's not the flashiest park we’ve stayed in, it’s centrally located and gave us easy access to all the city has to offer.
We begin our Perth experience with a day trip to Fremantle, a historic and vibrant port city just south of Perth. We take in the gorgeous heritage architecture along High Street, stop by Fremantle Train Station, admire the Round House — WA’s oldest public building — and grab a coffee while soaking in the city’s laid-back energy.
Then it's time to step into Fremantle’s darker past with a guided “Notorious Criminals” tour at Fremantle Prison, where we hear stories of notorious inmates like serial killers, bushrangers, and escape artists. We even learn about Brendan Abbott, the infamous “Postcard Bandit,” and how he escaped from the prison disguised as a guard.
After the tour, we dash back to the caravan to get changed for something completely different — a pre-booked Swan River night cruise! With live music from a Rolling Stones tribute band, city lights twinkling, and great vibes onboard, it’s the perfect way to wind down the day.
The next day is ANZAC Day, and we take a bus to Optus Stadium, where we enjoy a meal and drinks at the stadium precinct before watching the Fremantle Dockers take on the Adelaide Crows in a live AFL match. The atmosphere is electric, and the emotion of ANZAC Day adds an extra layer of meaning to the experience.
As this episode wraps up, we take a moment to reflect — we’ve travelled from Port Hughes, across the Nullarbor, along the stunning coastline of Esperance, through the wild forests and wine country of Margaret River, and now to Perth — over 3,000km of incredible landscapes, people, and places.
But our journey isn't over! From here, we begin the return leg of our road trip, with more exciting destinations, natural wonders, and unique finds still to come. So be sure to stick around — subscribe, hit the bell, and follow along for the rest of this epic caravan adventure.
