(E.103) Fatal Dogman Encounters
Story 1 Carpathian Mountains Dogman
A man discovers a truth his family hid for sixty years — a truth his dying mother finally confesses in a handwritten letter. Growing up, he was told his uncle Mihai was killed by a wolf in the Carpathian Mountains in 1966. But as his mother neared the end of her life, she revealed the truth: the family didn’t lose Mihai to any wolf.
They lost him to something that walked upright.
Her letter recounts the nights leading up to Mihai’s disappearance — the pacing silhouette in the treeline, too tall, too narrow, too still to be any normal animal… and too focused on them to be a coincidence. She describes the night the creature returned, stalking their home, terrifying the livestock, and watching their family from the dark. Mihai and their father went out to confront it — only one came back.
Story 2 Hunted and Killed by Dogman
A man steps forward to tell the story his friend never lived long enough to share — the story of something that stalked a quiet piece of rural land in the late 1990s. The storyteller keeps his identity vague for good reason: the friend he calls “M” didn’t just see something in the woods… he was taken by it.
But one summer night, he saw something tall standing in the treeline. Too tall for a man. Chest far too high. Eyes glowing back at him like an animal — but shaped wrong.
That was the first sighting.
Then came the second: something heavy walking through his corn rows on two legs, stopping to look at him like it was weighing a decision.
The third: his fearless dogs refusing to bark… pacing windows… trembling whenever night fell. Scratch marks along the outside wall. Heavy footfalls circling the house. Tracks too deep for a human to make.
The fourth: an upright figure watching him from the fence line, fully illuminated by the moon.
And finally… the thing stepped onto his porch.
Not attacking. Not charging. Just standing inches from his front door, testing boundaries — as if deciding when to break them.
M was terrified, but stubborn. He stayed. And one night, when he opened the door to let his dogs out, they refused to step off the porch. Hours later, he vanished.
Story 3 Dogman Attack
A road surveyor and his five-man crew take on a job no other company wants: cutting a path through the infamous Greenwell Forest — a place locals whisper about but never enter. The stories range from ghosts to witches… but most people warn about something far worse. Something upright. Something wolf-shaped. Something that takes people.
At first, the crew laughs off the legends. Then the mutilated animals start appearing.
As the days pass, the crew realizes they aren’t surveying the forest.
They’re being hunted in it.
Story 4 The Beast of the Land Between the Lakes Kills Campers
It starts like any other shift… until he finds a campsite deep in restricted territory. Immediately, something feels wrong. Everything is still there — coolers, bags, personal belongings… even the vehicles. That’s the first red flag.
The second is the tent.
One entire side of it is shredded open, not torn like a bear had swiped it, but sliced — long, razor-clean slashes running across the fabric. Inside the tent and on the ground nearby are trails of blood. Not enough to suggest someone died on the spot… but enough to know someone was badly hurt.
He calls for backup.
While waiting, he searches the site and finds two wallets — one belonging to a man, one to a woman. Both missing. Both not answering phones. And the dogs back home never saw them again.
When backup arrives, the officers spot something worse: drag marks leading away from the tent, and beside them… huge canine-shaped footprints. Too big for any known wolf in the region. Too deep to be made by a human.
Blood samples are taken. Photos snapped. A search begins.
Wardens, volunteers, and police spread across the woods, calling out the missing campers’ names, combing through ravines, brush, and shoreline. No voices call back. No movement. No signs of life.
The families confirm neither camper has returned home.
They search again the next day. And the next.
Nothing.
Then the order comes down:
Stop searching. The case is now classified.
Not by his boss — but by “people his boss answers to.”
All investigation halted. All evidence sealed. All questions shut down.
Seven years later, those campers are still missing. Officially, it's an open case. Unofficially… it’s a story nobody wants to talk about.
And in a place with decades of whispered legends about a massive upright canine stalking the forests — the notorious Beast of the Land Between the Lakes — the officer can’t help but wonder:
Was he standing at the scene of a dogman attack?
