This is my final video of my Mallorca trip with Valley Striders Cycling Club, based in Leeds.
In this video we start with with my flight out where I found myself sitting next to the charismatic Richard Hughes , a restaurateur at Manchega Tapas in Ripon, North Yorkshire. http://www.manchega.co.uk/about
I was travelling ahead of my group by one day, so I thought I'd splash out on a car hire for convenience. I planned to drive across the island, to the top, Pollensa, and drive back to the airport the following day, which I did, with my bike in the back. I've rode the route from the airport before, so I had the route prepared on my Strava.
This video captures our inaugural VSCC group ride. Within 5 minutes from setting off, Kat's latex innertube punctured. An hour after that, Adrian came off his bike cornering on a wet surface. A grazed and bruised thigh and a cut finger, but he soldiered on.
Two hours later, Howard came off. Similar injuries as Adrian. Howard managed to complete an additional four hours to complete our session only to find out the next day he had actually broken his shoulder bone. Andy, our team leader also had a puncture. It sure was an eventful first group day in the saddle. With all that happening, there were smiles, laughs and nothing but the feeling we ere living our best lives.
I then give my https://raceskin.co.uk/ wetsuit it's first swim. Now I had to save my legs for the cycling, as the terrain in Mallorca isn't for the faint hearted, especially if you're nearly pushing 100kg in weight. I have to say I am super impressed with how it feels. It is literally like a skin. Yet it offers so much buoyancy. I have not done any swim training for my next Ironman, but I'm hoping wearing this wetsuit that won't really matter at all.
Lastly I give you a quick tour around https://www.cabot-hotels.com/en/?part... The buffet was great and the staff made up for the slightly dated rooms. Again the staff were amazing, from Manuel in the kitchen to blonde haired spanish lady on the reception desk (I didn't get her name but was most helpful). The bed was really comfy and as I was spending most of my 24 hours either sleeping, out cycling or eating in the food hall, it didn't bother me as much the room needed modernising somewhat. It is a hotel I would stay again and I would recommend.
