Full HD 60FPS: The Last NJ Transit Comet III is Moved to Bay Head on MM-16 9/20/25

In this video, NJ Transit’s MM-16 crew moves three Comet coaches out of the MMC, taking them to Bay Head for storage and eventual scrapping. Among those three is the last Comet III coach on NJ Transit property: NJT Comet III 5522. All other NJ Transit-owned Comet IIIs were stored in Bay Head for roughly 15 years and were scrapped in 2022. The 5522, however, managed to evade the fate of the scrapper’s claw and was buried in the MMC for all those years. However, the time has come for it to meet its disposition, as it will sit in Bay Head until the final decision is made to scrap it. The three Comets are bracketed by some Multilevel cars, presumably to make sure that the train can brake adequately. I would imagine the brakes on the Comets are not in great shape, if they’re there at all.
