Necessary tool: A thin, long, straight measuring tool (knitting needle, thin dowel, skewer,... or a pencil if nothing else is handy)
Important Tips:
Close one eye when checking the angles of the enveloping shapes, to flatten out your depth perception.
Begin with your outermost enveloping shape and work inward
Don’t begin with small areas
