We brought our splitboards to Japan in hopes of having a window to try them out on Mt. Yotei, and luckily we had an opportunity where it had been several days since the last snowfall and the sun came out so we jumped on it. Mt. Yotei is a volcano that can be seen from the slopes of every resort in Niseko, Japan and is only around a 30 minute drive away. After some research we saw avalanche risk was rated as "low" and also found a trailhead that was rated as an easy route up the volcano. Of course we all brought our avalanche gear with us, and really enjoyed getting outside for a hike up the volcano. We were able to enjoy sunshine and great views while getting more acquainted with splitboarding technique. Overall it was an amazing day and I am really looking forward to more splitboard adventures this season. Thanks for watching!
