This is Richard Elliott's arrangement of the song "Battle Cry of Freedom" which was written by George Frederick Root during the American Civil War. Although originally a Union patriotic song, it was adopted by the Confederacy with new lyrics.
Richard Elliott played this arrangement for the broadcast of "Music and the Spoken Word" on July 4th, 2010. That performance is also available on YouTube, and can be found under the title "Rally Round the Flag".
