Steve breaks down this incredible 1964 Pontiac Lemans GTO Convertible that will be auctioned off by Richmond Auctions Oct 24-25. You can register at bid.richmondauctions.com. Here is a description of this lot:
A great example of America's first mass-marketed muscle car, this 1964 Pontiac GTO has a 389 cubic-inch V8 making 348 horsepower with a 10.75:1 compression ratio and optional three-two barrel Rochester carburetors. Pontiac also made sure to make their GTO visually appealing to young performance car buyers with chrome-tipped dual exhausts, chromed valve covers and air cleaner, hood scoops, Hurst shifter, wide 14-inch wheels, and 7.50x14 redline tires. As a Texas car, it was in complete rust-free condition prior to restoration and retains all of its original, though now restored, body panels. It is important to note that this example is an original Starlight black car, with a Parchment interior, four-speed manual transmission, four-barrel carburetor, and air conditioning. This car has also been upgraded with the tri-power setup. This first-year GTO has 3.08:1 rear axle gears and during its cosmetic restoration, the car gained a tilt column with wood steering wheel, padded dash, electric antenna, power brakes, and a set of vintage-style chromed Hurst wheels. It's a great driver that will deliver power, speed, and comfort for its next owner and is an excellent representative of the inaugural year of GTO production. VIN: 824P38557.
