I wanted to share with you the highlights of my one day visit to Shenzhen.

Shenzhen has changed significantly in 10 years (my last visit was 2015). Most certainly an emerging global city. Must visit place.

There were so many new high-tech products to see, so many food options, you name it, they have it, innovative metropolis, so many people but very orderly.

If you do visit, you will need to download WeChat or Alipay (get it linked with your card and verified) because they are literally a cashless city. You need it to pay for your food and taxi rides with the app all payments is through QR codes that is generated on your app.

I went through using the MTP card (Mainland Travel Permit). I had to go through manual channel to get my biometrics sorted. Next time I go, I just go up to the e-channel and scan my eyes.

It takes about 3-4 days to get your WeChat or Alipay verified but don't worry, you can always get a Shenzhen Metro card for only the bus and train.

Again for food and taxi, you might want a friend who has WeChat or Alipay because none of the vendors accepts cash.

It was crazy.. the each train ride was only RMB 1.90. I don't think anywhere beats that price.

I will want to visit again because they have amazing an non-expensive massage and spa places, one can also get your dental treatment. So much more to see.
