Welcome to my Winds-Advent-Calender 2025!! 🎄
I've always been deeply fascinated by this piece composed by Matthias Maute (*1963): a playful modern tribute to François Couperin’s famous Les Barricades Mystérieuses (1717).
I'm not sure what the title "Les Barricades Mystérieuses" signifies; the mysterious enigmatic barriers formed by Couperin’s intricate web of suspensions and flowing harmonies might serve as a poetic metaphor for veils, obstacles, or hidden layers within the music.
I always wanted to play it, I couldn't find two fellows willing to join me yet, so here I am, playing with me & myself :)
