During Taika - Seiyu Oyata's last decade or more on earth he had quit supporting tournament fighting and started lowering our kicks. He stated these were the pre-war kata heights of the kicks and this is the explanation of the kick near the end of Kūsankū that everyone associates with a Double Jump Front Kick or other such names. This was an Oyo from a bunkai session during headquarters class back probably around 2007 (Would have to dig through numerous diaries to find specific date).
