Yakub Memon has been hanged for his role in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts. At 5 am, the Supreme Court had rejected his last minute petition to stop his hanging. For the first time ever, a hearing was held in the top court's premises in the middle of the night. Memon was executed in Nagpur Central Prison on the day he turned 53.
