The Spiritual Reason for Fasting

“Fasting is when we’re a little bit OK with emptiness,” says Fr. Emmanuel, then we let God fill that emptiness. The saints often talk about the power fasting has to bring us closer to God. Fr. Mark-Mary says while it may be quite tough while in the middle of it, when we look back we notice that—honestly—it’s not that bad. Fr. Emmanuel and Fr. Mark-Mary challenge you to fast for four hours, just say “no” to that snack, and let God fill in the emptiness.
