ABOUT HUDSON HEIGHTS

Hudson Heights is a sub-neighborhood of Upper Manhattan. It is technically located within Washington Heights.

Hudson Heights is located between Fort Tryon Park to the north and 173rd Street to the south. On the west is the Hudson River and on the east is Broadway.

Many diverse communities made the area of Hudson Heights their home. From the Dutch to German Jews to present Hispanic communities. In the early 1990s, the community re-named the area to Hudson Heights.

The residential neighborhood sits atop the highest elevation on Manhattan in Bennett Park at 265 feet above sea level.

In addition to Bennett Park, you can also find a great view of the George Washington Bridge at J. Hood Wright Park. If you’re feeling ambitious, you can also make your way to Fort Washington Park to check out the Little Red Lighthouse. The cute historic landmark was the inspiration for the children’s book “The Little Red Lighthouse and the Great Grey Bridge.”

Hudson Heights is central to many attractions in the area. The Met Cloisters sits just north of the neighborhood and the United Palace is just south.

Like other neighborhoods nearby, there are so many options when it comes to food, activities, and culture for your family. Though the vibe of the community is very small town. The shops and restaurants a very mom and pop and there are not many chains in the area.

The architecture of the residential buildings is easy on the eyes. Most of the designs are from the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s in an Art-Deco style. Because this neighborhood is located on the western side of the island, these residential buildings tend to have great views of the Hudson River.

The small neighborhood contributes a whole lot to the culture and diversity in the surrounding area.
