Judging by recent events, the Kadyrov clan's position in Chechnya is weakening. Ramzan Kadyrov would like his sons to succeed him, but things could turn out quite differently.
Political scientist and chairman of the Center for Analysis and Strategy Igor Chalenko told Channel 24 about this , commenting on rumors that Ramzan Kadyrov is experiencing serious health problems. Meanwhile, one of his sons was unexpectedly involved in a car accident. There were rumors that this was no accident.
According to the political scientist, the Kadyrov clan's position in Chechnya is beginning to weaken. Meanwhile, there are clans in the region more loyal to the Kremlin that would like to seize power in the event of Kadyrov's death. Specifically, the clan of local General Apti Alaudinov.
Some players have been waiting for years. And chaos could break out. This would be a completely logical development. This is an opportunity for the Chechen people. But I'm betting on a clan war over the resource provided by Moscow,
" Chalenko said. According to media reports, Kadyrov's youngest son, 18-year-old Adam, was in an accident on January 16. There were reports that doctors were threatened to prevent any information from leaking. He was later reported to have regained consciousness. Alexey Buryachenko, President of the International Institute for Security Studies, believes that Putin will be interested in maintaining the Kadyrov clan's hold on power in Chechnya. A new protégé will bring a new wave of terror to Chechnya. He outlined possible scenarios in the event of Ramzan Kadyrov's death. Buryachenko noted that this information is not news, as there have been numerous reports of Ramzan Kadyrov's illness. It's in Putin's interests to preserve Kadyrov's regime in Chechnya, even without Kadyrov himself. Because if he doesn't, it could result in a serious internal imbalance within the Putin regime,
the political scientist emphasized.
It is important to understand that the Kadyrov regime, in his opinion, stands on three things: on money; with the support of Putin himself; on the tough iron gloves with which Kadyrov's men restrained any manifestation of opposition in Chechnya. "If there is no money, no support from Putin, and the iron grip on Chechnya weakens, then Putin could face big problems," he noted. The political scientist predicted a scenario regarding possible further actions in Chechnya and in relation to Kadyrov. “If Kadyrov's death is confirmed, Putin will likely publicly nominate a new candidate to lead Chechnya. It could be Kadyrov's son or someone else. But this person will be far more ruthless than Kadyrov, and he will bring a new wave of terror to Chechnya” noted Alexey Buryachenko.
He added that Putin would pay generously for all of this, eliminating in advance any problems that could arise with Kadyrov's departure from power.
Sources in the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine reported that Ramzan Kadyrov has suffered kidney failure. He is treated at his own hospital in Chechnya. Meanwhile, the Kremlin is already searching for a replacement for the current head of Chechnya. Among the candidates are Magomed Daudov, Apti Alaudinov, and Ramzan Kadyrov's eldest son, Akhmat.
