Abstract:
Salmon aquaculture is an important industry for Norway, but issues related to the welfare of the fish limitthe full potential of the sector. To improve fish welfare, long-term monitoring of individual salmon is needed. In this talk, I will present an overview of opportunities and challenges in aquaculture tracking, which is a core component in achieving continuous salmon welfare monitoring. SOTA fish tracking methods will be discussed, as well as how innovative applications of tracking modules can be used to monitor individual salmon welfare over prolonged time periods.
