Where is King of muscle up now? Zef Zakaveli from Bar Barians Zef Zakaveli was the first calisthenic athlete to perform clean muscle up on the bar. In 2011, when I first watched his skills on YouTube, it motivated me to train. Zakaveli workout for over 20 years. It all started with street training in Brooklyn with his friend Jude. Together they founded the international sports team Bar-Barians, known in different countries.

Since childhood, the athlete did pus h-ups. As a teenager he worked out in the gym, did a bench press. But after some time training in the gym, Zef injured his soulder, chest muscles, and biceps. Sometimes I suffered from headaches. And the athlete stopped training in the gym and started a street workout.

There is a saying "miror motivation", it means that each athlete motivates others in training, it adds an incentive to develop their skills. Athletes organized small competitions among themselves, performed a workout routine.

Becoming a member of the Bar-Barians team is not easy. First, you need to meet the requirements for physical training - pull ups, dips, push ups, and muscle ups. And then be sure to pass the "mental exam", you need to prove that you share the sports philosophy of other team members. The Bar-Barians are a big sports family. Requirements of the team became more difficult almost every year, the requirements became more difficult as there were many willing to join the team.

Now the requirements look like this. 5 muscle ups, 50 dips, 30 pull ups, 60 push ups, and 5 muscle ups. All this must be done in 5 minutes. Breaks can be taken only between different exercises.

And the first requirements many years ago were easier. These are 40 dips, 20 pull ups, 50 push ups, 5 muscle ups. You need to have time to perform in 5 minutes and in this sequence of exercises, you can not change. The main difference between Zef's workouts is that he combined several exercises into one, he did sets almost without rest. It is also important not to forget about quality exercise techniques.

Everyone who met the requirements of Bar-Barians was presented with a T-shirt with the image of a golden griffin. The team has members from America, England, Italy, Australia, Ukraine and other countries.

In 2017 Zef made GOD SET on bar. You need to do 50 pull ups, then 1 mucle up, then 50 bar push ups, and 10 pull ups. You could do more repetitions if you could.

In addition to pull ups and dips, Zef Zakaveli also knows the strength gymnastic elements of calisthenics. Performed front lever, planche, and freestyle at the bar. Zef doesn't like the fact that newcomers who come to the playground immediately try to perform freestyle and don't like pull ups or dips. Zakaveli believes that first you need to strengthen the body for a while only basic workout, and only then move on to freestyle training. Zef also criticizes the format of modern competitions and the selection of judges, because there are no uniform rules of competition.
