In this video, I turn a solid piece of walnut burl into a beautiful handmade bowl using a combination of bandsaw circle cutting, lathe woodturning, and high-gloss sanding and polishing techniques.
Starting with a raw chunk of walnut burl wood, I use a circle cutting jig on the bandsaw to prep the blank for mounting on the lathe. From there, I take you through the full woodturning process — roughing out the shape, hollowing the bowl, sanding through grits, and finishing with a polished shine that highlights the burl’s incredible figure.
