This is unedited footage of the approach and landing of my recent flight into beautiful Jamaica.
This was recorded using my trusted and proven combination of a Sony NEX-5T with an external microphone.
The flight was flown by aircraft G-VIIT which is a Boeing 777-200ER wtih General Electric GE90-85B turbofan engines.
This flight is very different from other similar videos that I have posted in that the weather conditions suddenly changed. Conditions were sunny when the aircraft made landfall but rapidly become cloudy with a mini monsoon near the end :)
The pilor appeared to go quite a distance past Portmore to avoid the bad weather. For the life of me I can't work out where he made the 180 degree turn necessary to line up with the runway. Having said that that it is difficult to maintain bearings when flying through clouds, so I guess the turn was gradual.
The overcast conditions did have the benefit that the view of the landing over the harbour was not underexposed as it normally is due to the bright sunshine :)
I regret the abrupt ending of the video. This was due to my camera overheating and shutting down. This is a known issue with the Sony NEX-5 series , in that they overheat after around 17 minutes of recording :(
A big thank you to everyone who has viewed my videos over the years. I can't believe that my channel is approaching half a million views in total. Makes it all worthwhile.
