Tower Hamlets Council has teamed up with Ed Hicks and The London Music Hall Choir to celebrate St George’s Day online.
We have put together a number of lesser known, well known and well-loved songs and their lyrics for you to sing along to in your own time.
We hope you will enjoy this digital ding dong. Happy St George’s Day!
Ed Hicks is a local banjo player and music workshop leader and runs the London Music Hall Choir. The London Music Hall Choir sing songs from the Victorian Music Halls, these songs are steeped in local culture, vernacular and history. The songs are sometimes sentimental, often funny and always great fun to sing.
During the pandemic the choir has temporarily taken it’s singing online and has been using Zoom for their weekly “digital ding dong” sessions. For St George’s Day, Ed is producing a one-off video of performances of some their favourite songs for you to sing along with.
