The most important towns and destinations in Cappadocia are Ürgüp, Göreme, Love Valley, Ihlara Valley, Selime, Güzelyurt, Uçhisar, Avanos and Zelve.
This intriguing region of Cappadocia makes it unique in the world. Sedimentary rocks formed in lakes and streams erupted from ancient volcanoes millions of years ago. The results seen today are what we see in this region. The rocks near Göreme eroded into hundreds of spectacular pillars and minaret-like forms. For ages in the past, villagers carved out houses, churches and monasteries from the soft rocks of volcanic deposits.
Anıtkabir ('memorial tomb') is the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in Ankara. It is a monumental complex that serves as Atatürk's final resting place. The complex includes various monuments and a museum where his personal belongings are displayed.
At night, a visit to an underground cave-restaurant has performers bring Turkey's culture and heritage to life through song and dance. Customary folk dances from seven different regions are offered as well as traditional Turkish wedding dances.
