My intent for making this video is to remember and to honor my father and his buddies, who landed on Omaha Beach, in June, 1944.
I went there in June, 2014 for the 70th anniversary, and stood in the sand near high tide. I took all of the pictures in the video except the lone flag on the beach. I am playing drum set in this recording with The Bend in the River Brass Band. The composition is “Proudly We Hail” by Brian Balmages and was arranged for our band by Jerry Reese. It includes The Star-Spangled Banner and America the Beautiful.
