[S33] God wants for everyone to become a saint (1 Timothy 2:4) and in order to become one we must cooperate with God's grace. Furthermore, sanctity consists in perfected charity (1 Corinthians 13) and charity is an act of the will. I couldn't find the passage from St. Thomas in time, only a secondary source where he is quoted by Bishop Robert Barron: • Why Won't Catholicism Allow Women Priests?... St. Alphonsus also teaches this when he says that perfection grows in proportion to our desire for it: St. Alphonsus Liguori quoting St. Bernard, Prayer: The Great Means of Salvation and Perfection (1759) p. 440
