This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Sahira's daughter Hiba was a Down syndrome child.
Sahira take us through her journey how she was told by doctors about her daughter case in a bad and unhumain way.
And how she get important information about the Down syndrome when she went to U.K and used them in Iraq to improve the case of the DSC.
Sahira founded "Hiba center", a center that learn others how to deal with the families and children about DSC.

Sahira Abdul-Lateef is the founder the Down Syndrome Association of Iraq. Her journey started with the birth of her fourth child who was diagnosed with the condition, and the lack of information and support magnified the difficulty of the situation. Leaving her teaching career behind, she joined her husband in his travels to the United Kingdom where she dedicated her time to learning all that she could about the syndrome and how to care for those born with it. Upon her return to Iraq, she established the Hiba Center for Down Syndrome that cares for more than 150 people of different ages, whom Sahira sees as children of her own. She is inspired by them daily and rejoices in their participation and success in local and global competitions. Sahira is the recipient of various awards and accolades for her exemplary volunteer work with this population, and the Iraqi representative of Down Syndrome International (DSi), a UK based international charity, and Inclusion International, a global federation advocating for the human rights of people with intellectual disabilities worldwide.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
