Ladakh Trip-Snowcapped Mountains|Manali–Leh Road |Tso Moriri-Manali Route via Pang,Baralachala Night

Today marks the end of my unforgettable Ladakh journey, and I’m heading back from Tso Moriri Lake to Manali — one of the most scenic and thrilling routes I’ve ever experienced! ❄️🏔️

From the moment I left Tso Moriri, the day was packed with breathtaking landscapes, wildlife sightings, and some of the scariest night driving moments of the trip.

✨ Route Covered Today

📍 Tso Moriri
➡️ Puga Valley – Famous for hot springs and beautiful pastel-coloured mountains
➡️ Tso Kar Lake – Calm, cold desert vibes with stunning reflections
➡️ Debring – Left road goes to Manali, right to Leh
➡️ Lachung La – Fully covered in snow
➡️ Nakee La – Narrow roads and windy curves
➡️ Gata Loops – Still as scary as ever!
➡️ Sarchu – Evening refreshments stop
➡️ Baralacha Pass (7 PM) – First time crossing in pitch dark, fully white after snowfall
➡️ Darcha – Reached around 9 PM and stayed overnight

❄️ First Time Seeing This Route After Fresh Snowfall

From Debring onwards, the entire route looked straight out of a dream.
Snow-covered mountains on both sides, a white valley as far as eyes could see, and the silence of nature made this drive unforgettable.

The snowfall had transformed:
• Lachungla
• Nakeela
• Baralacha
• Gata Loops

into a mesmerising winter wonderland. Truly WOW — a completely different experience of the Manali–Leh highway.

😨 Scariest Part of the Journey

Night driving in this region is always risky, especially when the entire road is covered in snow.
• Saw trucks stuck and even a couple fallen into deep ditches
• One side mountains, other side a deep drop
• From Nakeela to the end of Gata Loops, the road becomes very narrow
• Continuous truck traffic made it more challenging
• Spotted some deer on the route too! 🦌

Honestly, it was thrilling yet scary — but absolutely worth the experience.

🏁 Final Thoughts

This journey from Tso Moriri to Manali was the perfect closing chapter to my Ladakh trip.
Snow, adventure, dangerous patches, wildlife, magical valleys — everything combined into one epic ride.

Tomorrow I continue my journey towards Delhi.
