Deaths are more than tragedies. In Mad Men, deaths shape the life trajectories of the characters.
Here are a few I missed:
In Mad Men Season 2, Episode 9 "Six Month Leave", Marilyn Monroe's death is announced, though she's not a fictional character of the series.
In Mad Men Season 3, Episode 12 "The Grown-Ups", John F. Kennedy's death is announced, though he's not a fictional character of the series. The same for Lee Harvey Oswald.
I missed David Montgomery’s death, which is first mentioned in Season 4, Episode 11, titled “Chinese Wall.”
Pete Fox's death is also mentioned in Season 5, Episode 3, though he's not a fictional character of the series.
In Mad Men Season 5, Episode 4 “Mystery Date”, Don Draper has a fever-induced hallucination where he strangles Andrea, a former lover, to death in his apartment.
In Mad Men Season 5, Episode 6 "Far Away Places", Michael Ginsberg mentions to Peggy that his mom supposedly died in a concentration camp.
In Mad Men Season 6, Episode 1 "The Doorway Part 1", Roger Sterling receives news from Caroline about his mother's passing.
In Mad Men Season 6, Episode 2 "The Doorway Part 2", Roger Sterling learns from Caroline that his shoeshine guy Giorgio died. Sandy, a 15-year-old who is staying with the Francises has also lost her mother.
In Mad Men Season 6, Episode 5 "The Flood", Martin Luther King's death is announced, though he's not a fictional character of the series. Death of unnamed civilians in the follow up riots are also mentioned.
In Mad Men Season 6, Episode 7 "Man with a Plan", Robert F. Kennedy's death is announced, though he's not a fictional character of the series.
In Mad Men Season 7, Episode 2 "A Day's Work", Sally Draper's roommate Sarah's mother dies and her funeral is mentioned.
