I made SUSHI! But is it ACTUALLY GOOD?
✨Recipe:
Ingredients:
• 2 cups short-grain white rice
• 2½ cups water
• ¼ cup rice vinegar
• 1½ tbsp sugar
• 1 tsp salt
• Seaweed (nori) sheets
• 1 cucumber, sliced into thin strips
• 1 avocado, sliced
• 1 fillet of farm-raised salmon, thinly sliced
Directions:
1. Rinse the rice thoroughly under cold water until the water runs clear. In a medium pot, combine rice and water. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18 minutes or until water is fully absorbed. Remove from heat and let sit, covered, for 10 minutes.
2. While the rice cooks, heat rice vinegar, sugar, and salt in a small saucepan over low heat until the sugar dissolves.
3. Transfer cooked rice to a large bowl. Gently pour the vinegar mixture over the rice and fold with a spatula to mix—be careful not to mash the grains. Let cool to room temperature.
4. Place a sheet of nori, shiny side down, on a bamboo sushi mat. Spread a thin layer of rice (about ⅛ inch thick) evenly over the nori, leaving a small border at the top edge.
5. Lay cucumber, avocado, and salmon slices horizontally across the center of the rice.
6. Use the mat to roll everything up tightly into a log. Seal the edge with a dab of water, then slice into 8 equal pieces using a sharp, damp knife.
7. Serve with soy sauce, wasabi, or pickled ginger—and enjoy your homemade sushi night! 🍣
