Lexi gets back to doing what she loves with ApiFix surgery

Meet Lexi, one of Dayton Children's patient ambassadors! 👋 Lexi was diagnosed with scoliosis at just four years old. Her doctors advised her parents to wait and watch. At nine, she began wearing a back brace at night to decrease the curve in her spine. After a year, it was clear surgery would be the next step. Her mom, a nurse, knew that spine surgery could mean a long, hard recovery. But Lexi was a good candidate for a new procedure called ApiFix. Just two hours after a major surgery Lexi was walking! She went home the next day and now, one year later, there's nothing she can't do, including playing softball and basketball!
