Judge Dredd first appeared in the sci-fi comic magazine, 2000 AD. It illustrated a barren, dystopian wasteland that had been ruined by nuclear warfare and greed. Due to the rise of mutants, androids, Artificial intelligence, and mass automation, humans became useless. The crime rate also shot up to extremely dangerous levels! This futuristic megapolis is the home of several judges who are law enforcement agents, playing judge, jury, and executioner. Among them lies the legendary protagonist of the story, Judge Joe Dredd, also known as Judge Dredd. Back in the ’90s the craze of Judge Dredd spiked to new heights, and over the years, there have been two live-action renditions of the comic on the big screen. One in 1995 where Sylvester Stallone played the role of Dredd, and in 2012 titled Dredd where Karl Urban plays Judge Dredd’s role. The 2012 movie version is probably one of the best comic book movie ever made! Unfortunately, it failed to be a financial success and all the plans for sequels were canned, but its cult status forced the production houses to continue the story in the same dark and gritty way as in 2012’s Dredd movie. Finally, it was announced that a Judge Dredd TV series Megacity One is in the works! Judge Dredd’s rogue’s gallery as good as Batman’s, and it is extremely underrated.
