Windows to Our World: The lived experiences of families with disability [compilation]

‘Windows to Our World’ is a series of videos featuring the personal stories of parents with children who have disabilities. The parents in ‘Windows To Our World’ share their experiences about what happened when their child was born, when they had concerns in the early years, their experiences with health and medical professionals, with education and therapy providers. They speak about their grief, their hopes and optimism, and their aspirations for their children.

Families who have a lived experience with disability very often gain great support and strength from other families in the same situation. They have shared their stories so that other parents know they are not alone.

The ‘Windows to Our World’ project was facilitated by Development Disability WA with support from Therapy Focus, Early Childhood Intervention Australia and School for Parents (based at Carson Street School). The project was funded by Disability Services Commission.
