Säben Abbey was a Benedictine nunnery on Säben Mountain in South Tyrol. It was founded in the late 17th century by nuns from Nonnberg Abbey in Salzburg and existed until November 2021. Since 2024, monks from the Austrian Cistercian Abbey of Heiligenkreuz have been responsible for the pastoral care of pilgrims on the former abbey grounds.
The site of today's monastery was formerly a late Roman settlement, which soon developed into an early Christian center: From the 6th century until about 960, a bishopric was located here, which also included the church built in the vineyard in the early 5th century and excavated there.
